The community gardens in North Tallinn District received compost produced from disposable tableware.
The compost consist of food waste and tableware used at the Viljandi Folk Music Festival in the summer 2019. Väätsa landfill processed food waste together with compostable disposable tableware into compost.
The fertilizers obtained as a result of processing the tableware used at the Viljandi Folk Music Festival is used to fertilize the plants growing in the community gardens.
The pilot project is being carried out by the North Tallinn Government in cooperation with Mixpack OÜ, a company that distributes environmentally-friendly disposable tableware.
As part of the pilot project, we distributed compost to Pelguaed, the Põhjala tehas and Kopli vocational School.
